Among others the CONVAL Service Release 9.0.9 SP3 includes the following improvements:

Restriction Orifice Plate

  • With safety-related applications, e.g. orifice plates that limit the mass flow upstream of safety valves, the modifiers xT resp. FL2 are set to unity, in order to calculate the theoretical maximum flow at critical conditions.
  • Improved noise prediction of restriction orifice plates with gases by calculation according to IEC 60534-8-3.

Control Valve

  • Improved stability.
  • The calculation of downstream resistances was revised. In particular an issue at the calculation of silencers was addressed. In some cases the Cv-value of all resistances was set to the same value.
  • Improved noise prediction of downstream resistance structures by calculation according to IEC 60534-8-3 respectively IEC 60534-8-4.
  • The control valve database was revised. Among others, valves of the manufacturers BADGER METER and CLORIUS CONTROLS A/S were revised or added.
  • If the upstream pressure p1 in the two-phase module is changed, the Cv value of the first operating point is not always calculated instantly.

Pressure Relief Valve

  • The pressure relief valve database was revised. Among others, valves of the manufacturers FARRIS, GE CONSOLIDATED and GOETZE were revised or added.

Differential Pressure Flow Element

  • The calculation of the required inlet sections of quarter circle nozzles was revised.

Details about other improvements and error corrections can be found on the download page in the version history and in the known bugs section.
